If you can perform acoustically or at a volume suited to your host's location and wishes, the Guilford Porchfest stage could be yours! All solo performers, and at least one member of any duo or group, must live or work in Guilford, CT. Applications close July 31!

Laurie Kenney

Bubblegum with a bite

Singer/songwriter (and Guilford Porchfest co-founder) Laurie Kenney wrote her first song at 12 and her second at 56. Her debut album, Every Apple Does Go Bad Eventually, started as a self-imposed challenge: learn to play guitar and write and record an album of original songs…or die trying. The album was produced by Kenney and Mike Arafeh, owner of The Coffeehouse recording studio in Middletown, who will perform the entire album, and more, with Kenney, at  Guilford Porchfest.

Trolley Creek is a bluegrass band whose humble beginnings formed under the tutelage of local Guilford bluegrass icon Phil Rosenthal. Featuring a varied set list with an old-time sound, updated classics, and sweet harmonies, Trolley Creek is: Libby Kingsbury, lead vocals & guitar and co-founder of Guilford Porchfest; Catherine DeCarlo, banjo; Woody Levin, mandolin; John Jarvis, bass; Lenore Hammers, fiddle; and Dave Funkhauser, guitar.

Shovel Ready String Band

The versatile Shovel Ready String Band performs heartfelt original songs alongside up-tempo fiddle tunes, country blues, bluegrass, and traditional ballads of love and loss. The band's second album, Dig a Little Deeper, delivers a rich trove of original songs, ranging from haunting reflections on family histories, to incisive takes on current social issues and wry observations on the tribulations of daily life. Phil is a former Connecticut State Troubadour and has been a member of several renowned bluegrass bands, including the Seldom Scene, Apple Country String Band and Old Dog. He is an accomplished musician, playing banjo, guitar and mandolin, and a singer/songwriter whose compositions have been recorded by Johnny Cash, Bill Monroe, Nick Cave and the Bad Seeds and others.
